The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing laws require that business owners must obtain the appropriate licenses and permits before starting their business (e.g. businesses that serve or sell alcohol must obtain a liquor license; construction companies must have the credentials or employ a licensed contractor; and a business that serves food must obtain the required permits issued by the Environment Department).  Additionally, the New Mexico municipalities require local businesses obtain licenses from the specific municipality.
